Creating Confluence Template (New Editor)

Creating Confluence Template (New Editor)

New Confluence editor is available only in ARNR Cloud, thus this documentation is applicable only in case of ARNR app for Jira Cloud

If you are using this approach for the first time, please take a look at Checklist to publish release notes (in new Confluence editor) using ARNR Helper app

Background

There are two ways to create a Confluence template for a new editor -

  • Create a Confluence page as a template (Recommended approach)

  • Create a Confluence template using the native ‘Templates’ feature

Create a Confluence page as a template

Explore the default template

Navigate to ARNR app >> Templates tab >> Click on Create >> Select Confluence (New Editor)

On the pop-up, select the Confluence instance and then space and click on Create draft template.

This link will take you to a new Confluence template page, which includes several default ARNR macros. You have the option to publish it as is or to make any relevant customizations before publishing.

Use templates from the ARNR template gallery

Navigate to Templates tab >> Click on Template gallery (you can also click explore more templates). Check for the Confluence template and just preview or use.

If you are trying this new editor approach for the first time, you can use these pre-created templates as is to run a few tests. Once you get the understanding of how this approach works, you can edit the existing sample templates to get the desired design structure by using more ARNR macros and Confluence’s native page customisation options.

I want to start from scratch!

You can also create a blank Confluence page and start building your own template from scratch that contains JQL sections and other ARNR-specific macros. Simply create a new Confluence page and add ARNR Specific macros (Confluence helper app macros)and design your template.

Using pre-created templates

Another fastest way to explore different ready template designs is here! When you are in page editor mode click on three dots/actions button in the right corner and click on the Templates & import doc option.

Once clicked on Templates & import doc, notice the Template tab on the right side. Search for ARNR. In the result, notice the list ARNR templates. When you hover on a specific template, you can see a quick preview. Clicking on the template, will reload the page with the design you have selected . You are all set to use the ready Confleunce template. Cross-check if the JQL and any other elements need customisation and publish the page! Your Confluence template is now ready to be configured in the Confleunce action/s!

Create a Confluence template using the native ‘Templates’ feature

One can also create Global and Local Confluence template. Read Create a template | Confluence Cloud | Atlassian Support if you are using the template. Whether you create a Global/local template or page, the steps are going to be the same that are mentioned on the checklist page.
